Airports, hotels and municipal public communication installations are Janie Hughes' specialty. She built her reputation on pioneering public pay phones, the prepaid calling card vending solution nationally and launching WIFI locally.

Hughes, president and CEO at Q3 Telecom Inc. is known by industry giants like AT&T and SBC as "the first Lady of Pay phones." Hughes earned that title when she became the first female pay phone service provider (PSP) in California shortly after the industry opened up to independent operators in the 1980's.

Aviation, telecommunications, transportation and military industry have been in the Hughes family for years and Janie continues this family tradition.

She is known in the Desert as the "First Lady of WIFI" for launching WIFI at the Airport and City Hall in late 2004 and 2005.

Q3 Telecom is working with SBC as the prime contractor using the SBC Freedomlink Network for the seven hotspots at the Airport and four hotspots at City Hall. The service allows travelers to use laptop computers, cell phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs) to wirelessly connect to the Internet and corporate networks.

Hughes was the first female supplier for AT&T in a joint partnership to install pay phones at Los Angeles International Airport, and Q3 was the first company to launch prepaid phone cards at reno Airport.

Q3 Telecom is invested in the Internet, landline, wireless and prepaid communication nationwide, and prepaid public communication nationwide, prepaid calling card through vending applications, business center, public communications systems, and turnkey management solutions in airports nationwide.

Hughes founded her company in 1984, and it has become an industry leader. Her current goal is to continue to pursue WIFI opportunities. "Interest in WIFI is growing in airports," says Janie. "This is my focus."
