David Pelletier
Parliamentarian
David was born in Springfield, Massachusetts He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Communication from Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1974. He entered Christ Seminary-Seminex in St. Louis, Missouri, .receiving his Master of Divinity degree in 1978. He was licensed that same year into the ministry of Metropolitan Community Church.
In 1983, David was elected as the District Coordinator (Bishop) of the Northwest District for the Metropolitan Community Churches. The scope of his responsibilities included over 30 churches and 50 clergy in an eight state area.
During his tenure as District Coordinator, David opened the first public office for a district in Sacramento, California.
At the end of 1987, he received and accepted a call as a worker-priest on the Island of Maui, Hawaii. He served this rural parish for nine years and worked during his final year in Hawaii as the Director of Music for St. John's Episcopal Church in Kula. At the end of 1996, David received and accepted a call from the Southwest District to begin a new church in the Coachella Valley, arriving on the mainland in February of 1997.
As a worker-priest, David's secular employment included the hospitality industry, a graphic artist, a bartender/waiter, production manager of a small factory and the director of staff development/senior case manager for a homeless resource center. David is a certified instructor for the Parent Effectiveness Training program of Thomas Gordon and Associates as well as a certified instructor for the Managing Aggressive Behavior program of the University of Oklahoma. |
