Christmas at Well In the Desert

dia de los muertos 2016

Christmas 2020

It was a beautiful day on Christmas for the Well. It was a three-pronged happening. A delicious meal of turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, broccoli, and salad was made by chef Jon, and his assistants David and Marianne, and served up by wonderful volunteers and served at Our Lady of Guadalupe. So much pie, given every year for years by two special people, who prefer to remain anonymous. And then there were happy things going on at the cool/warm center. Rob Parkins, ventriloquist extraordinaire, along with his family, gave some wonderful shows, with clients practicing safety rules for covid. And, for the children and parents there were toys galore and grocery gift cards for 25,00. Happy people showed up an hour early and we started early, serving over 1,000 who were all so very grateful for this mobile Christmas at United Methodist Church (they are so wonderful). Santa (Harry Stone, and Mrs. Claus, Cardriner Boden, both board members waved to all the children as the parents drove around the circler. Close to 2,000 presents, dropped off at the Purple Room, thanks to the amazing Michael Holmes, were wrapped by him and his crew, and fellow board member Darci Daniels, who spearhead this incredible happening, along with sidekick and special volunteer Violet Kane. We had live music to sweeten the day.

We thank the many fine volunteers who were there on their Christmas to make a wonderful Christmas for others. It could not have been done without you.

Our community is generous and compassionate, they understand. We thank all of you who donated presents, money, gift cards, and your time to this absolutely wonderful day.

I thing we all may have fallen in bed early from exhaustion, but with satisfied and contented hearts.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Arlene
